Hello.
I'm Bri, a Registered Nurse, Student Midwife and Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula. I provide my clients with education, hands on support, and emotional steadfastness that is based on my vast experience in allopathic (Western) and holistic healthcare. I believe, whole-heartedly, that you hold the key to a memorable and fulfilling birth, by tapping into your own intuitive strength and preparing your body, mind, and spirit during the prenatal period.
As a student midwife in my Primaries, I provide comprehensive midwifery care throughout pregnancy and birth - through six weeks postpartum with oversight from Licensed Midwife preceptorship. I will consider very limited due dates in 2026 to practice in a way that aligns with a slower season of life. I have and always will know that you don’t get these precious moments back; the good news is that I know a lot of amazing midwives and can provide great referrals in the event that I cannot serve in a primary midwifery role.
Licensed Midwives in the state of WI are trained medical providers who care for low risk women and babies, providing longer, personalized visits and more individualized care than their high-risk, high-volume obstetrical colleagues. Think of midwives as experts in low-risk care, viewing pregnancy as a normal physiological event that sometimes requires a gentle guidance or skilled intervention to safeguard the health of the mother-baby dyad. We use our hands through skills like palpation to determine the size, position, and attitude of your baby. Our ears and eyes are trained to notice minute details from visit to visit, and our intuition and educational background guides our decision making. Midwives are trained to screen and monitor for symptoms and high risk situations in a timely manner and seek higher level of care when necessary, which keeps low risk birth safe and provides for excellent outcomes. Midwifery care is highly sought after for its ability to provide a calm, informed, and supportive birth environment and experience, in the comfort of your own home.
Midwives provide 45-60 minute appointments every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and weekly until the birth of your baby.
Standard care options like laboratory, genetic screening, gestational diabetes screening, diagnostic ultrasound, and more are available options to you during your pregnancy through outside collaborative services. Each and every option along the way, however, will be an informed choice discussion where you are in the driver’s seat and I will be there to provide the benefits, risks, alternatives and additional resources to all.
Postpartum visits are similar in length and occur at 24-72 hours post birth, 1-3 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks, all in the comfort of your own safe space. During this time together, I’ll help with standard State of WI newborn screenings (refer out for hearing screening), social security card and birth certificate filing, and assume primary care and assessments of you and baby until I sign off at our 6 week visit, during which time I can send records to a family practice physician or pediatrician of your choosing. It is not uncommon for visits to include any wide range of questions about medications, postpartum healing, breastfeeding and lactation, cord care, normal newborn behavior, and so much more!
Ultimately, I dare my clients to take back the sensuality and sacredness of birth while honoring that its imprint on our lives is something truly unique and out of this world. Through my work, I hope that all families are able to relish in the beauty that birth is and feel educated, empowered, and embraced for whatever that journey looks like. This is your invitation to take back your power. Your baby is waiting for you on the other side.
